New painting!

Nevermind my finger at the bottom.

The face, I'm pretty sure, is going to be glazed to look more like a human face. You'll see.

Two New

With these two paintings I'm trying to pay more attention to color. This first one is more obvious. Working with the complimentary colors of purple and yellow, I'm trying harder to do tones and values with color, rather than just letting the underpainting show through.

Right now the colors are a little extreme. By the time its done, things will be a little more subdued, but still colorful.

Here too, I'm working with glazes but paying more attention to color. This one I think will be a play of red orange and green blue. I think.

I didn't win the Fall awards show I entered. I think the faculty here dismisses my art as too illustrative. I started these paintings after the show. Very illustrative, but a lot of fun to do.
